From George Smart's Wiki
GB7EM : ELMPRK
The packet node is running on my main server at my house. It currently uses Ubuntu (an excellent distribution of operating system) Linux as a base. From there, it is running LinuxNode for a BPQ (G8BPQ) style node, supporting NET/ROM and AX.25 connections via a 1200baud radio link. The TNC is a AEA PK-88 in KISS mode linked to the computer via RS232.
I have written a small script for allowing details of the node to be viewed by the Internet. Visit here for this script. This script takes a while to load - is dynamic.
Telnet Access
The system has telnet access from the node to the Internet. This allows users to connect out via the Internet. To telnet to the node, telnet to packet.george-smart.co.uk on port 3694 - You will be prompted to use your username and password if you wish to connect via RF.
In Windows, click Start > Run. Enter cmd into the run dialog and press run (or okay). You can run the command in the box below. Under Linux or Mac OS X, open a terminal and run the command in the box below.
prompt> telnet packet.george-smart.co.uk 3694
And you will be connected to the service, as shown below:
George-Smart:~ george$ telnet packet.george-smart.co.uk 3694 Trying <server ip>... Connected to george-smart.co.uk.
